Energy Doctor Coming this Saturday!

ENERGY DOCTOR COMING TO GREENING LAUNCH

This Saturday the Greening Campaign begins in Histon and Impington with special guest Energy Doctor Pamela Hutton amongst the attractions!

With comic drama, song and film, there will be something for everyone at the Greening Campaign launch event this weekend. Reverend James Blandford Baker will launch the campaign with music, film and drama to follow.  Schools, faith groups and many village organisations are taking part.  There will be a toy swap stall, a human snakes and ladders game, craft activities, competitions, a master composter and lots more… and with the presence of special guest Pamela Hutton, the so-called Energy Doctor, well-known for her slot on Radio Cambridgeshire, there will be plenty of opportunities to find out about how to reduce your bills and your carbon footprint.

The campaign launch event will take place at Histon Baptist church this Saturday 28th February from 2-4pm, with the performances from 3pm.  Secretary of Histon and Impington Climate Change Action (HICCA) Siobhan Mellon, says. ‘It’s going to be a great village event for the family, with everything from cakes to composting’.

The Greening Campaign is an initiative where the community pulls together to reduce its impact on Climate Change. The campaign began in Hampshire and was so successful that since then many other villages and towns across the South of England have started to address the problem of reducing their CO2 footprint.  Histon and Impington are the first villages in Cambridgeshire to take up the challenge.

Villagers have decided on a list of 10 easy actions to cut their carbon; these actions have been put on a card, which have been delivered to every house in the village.  When residents have ticked five actions, they stick the card in the window.  After five weeks, the cards will be counted and the amount of carbon saved added up, to be announced on April 4th at 12am on the village Green.
